Managing Organizations

Organizations let you group and classify your locations under named entities — like a franchisor, reseller, or operating company. 🏢 Once set up, you can link any location to an organization and filter your entire locations list by it.

🏢 What Are Organizations?

An Organization is a named entity that one or more locations can belong to. Think of it as the company or group that owns or operates a set of stores, warehouses, or offices. Each organization has:

• 📛 A display name — shown throughout the platform. Supports translations so teams in different languages see it correctly.
• ⚖️ A legal name — the official registered name. This is fixed and not translatable.
• 🏷️ A kind — classifies the type of organization (e.g. Reseller, Franchise, Own and Operated).
• 🔗 An external ID — optional field for linking to an external system or data source.

You can find Organizations under Platform Settings → Locations → Organizations.

➕ Creating an Organization

To add a new organization to your platform:

1. Go to Platform Settings → Locations and click the Organizations tab.
2. Click the + Create button in the top-right corner, then select Organization from the dropdown.
3. Fill in the fields in the Create organization dialog:
   • Name — The display name for the organization. Supports translations — you can switch language using the flag icon in the dialog header.
   • Legal name — The official name. Not translatable.
   • Kind — Select the organization type from the dropdown. Options are: Distributor, Franchise, Logistics, Own and Operated, Operator, Manufacturer, Reseller, Retailer, or Other.
   • External id — Optional. Enter an ID if you need to link this organization to a record in an external system.
4. Click Create to save.

✏️ Editing an Organization

You can update an organization's details at any time:

1. On the Organizations tab, find the organization you want to update.
2. Click the ⋮ menu on the right side of the row and select Edit.
3. Update any of the fields — Name, Legal name, Kind, or External id.
4. Click Save to apply your changes.

From the edit dialog you can also click See all → next to Locations to jump straight to the filtered locations list for that organization.

🔍 Finding and Filtering Organizations

The Organizations table shows Name, Kind, and Created by columns, each of which is sortable. Use these tools to navigate your list:

• 🔎 Search bar — Type to search organizations by name.
• 🎛️ Filter — Click Filter to narrow the list by one or more Kind values. Select any combination of Distributor, Franchise, Logistics, Own and Operated, Operator, Manufacturer, Reseller, Retailer, or Other.
• ↕️ Sort — Click any column header to sort ascending or descending.

To view all locations belonging to a specific organization, open its View or Edit dialog and click See all → next to Locations. This opens the Locations tab pre-filtered to that organization.

🗑️ Deleting an Organization

To remove an organization:

1. Click the ⋮ menu on the organization's row.
2. Select Delete.
3. Confirm the deletion in the prompt that appears.

⚠️ Important: You cannot delete an organization that still has locations linked to it. Re-assign or remove those locations first before deleting the organization.
