Location Categories
Location Categories let you organise your locations by type — like Flagship, Outlet, or Wholesale — so you can filter and target the right locations with the right content and tasks. 📍 Once set up, location categories appear across the platform wherever you need to segment or target specific groups of locations.

📍 What Are Location Categories?
A Location Category is a label you assign to locations to group them by type. For example, you might create categories like Flagship, Outlet, or Wholesale to make it easy to filter and target specific groups of locations across your organisation.
💡 Not the same as Content Categories: Location Categories organise locations by type. Content Categories organise articles and content by theme (like Summer Season or Price Changes). They serve different purposes and live in different parts of Platform Settings.
You can find Location Categories under Platform Settings → Location Categories. The list has two tabs:
- 📋 Active — all currently active location categories
- 📦 Archived — categories that have been archived and are no longer in active use
The list shows these columns:
- 📛 Name — the category's display name
- 📅 Created at — when the category was created (sortable)
- 🔄 Updated at — when the category was last modified (sortable)
➕ Creating a Location Category
To add a new location category:
- Go to Platform Settings → Location Categories.
- Click the + Create button in the top-right corner.
- In the Create location category dialog, enter a Name for the category.
- Click Save to create it.

💡 Tip: The Name field supports translations. Click the language flag icon in the dialog header to switch languages and add the category name in other languages for multi-language platforms.
✏️ Editing a Location Category
To update an existing location category:
- Find the category in the Active list and click its ⋮ menu on the right.
- Select Edit.
- Update the Name as needed. Use the language flag in the dialog header to edit translations.
- Click Update to save your changes.
💡 Tip: Select View from the ⋮ menu if you want to inspect a category's details — including its ID and timestamps — without making any changes.
🔍 Finding and Filtering Location Categories
Use the Search bar at the top of the list to find location categories by name. You can also sort the list by clicking the Created at or Updated at column headers to toggle ascending or descending order.
Switch between the Active and Archived tabs to see categories in each state.
📦 Archiving and Restoring Location Categories
Location categories are not deleted — they are archived. Archiving removes a category from active use without permanently deleting it, so you can restore it later if needed.
Archiving a category
- On the Active tab, find the category you want to archive and click its ⋮ menu.
- Select Archive.
- Confirm the action in the prompt that appears.
Restoring a category
- Switch to the Archived tab.
- Find the category you want to restore and click its ⋮ menu.
- Select Restore.
⚠️ Important: Archiving a location category removes it from any location configurations and targeting rules it was part of. Review any locations using this category before archiving to avoid unintended gaps in content delivery or task targeting.
