Content Categories

Content Categories let you organise your articles and content by theme — like Summer Season, Price Changes, or Merchandising — so you can filter and target the right content to the right people. 🗂️ Once set up, content categories are used across the platform to tag content and build targeted audiences.

🗂️ What Are Content Categories?

A Content Category is a label you attach to articles to tag them by theme. For example, you might create categories like Summer Season, Price Changes, or Merchandising to make it easy to filter and target content across your organisation.

💡 Not the same as Location Categories: Content Categories organise content by theme. Location Categories organise locations by type (like Flagship, Outlet, or Wholesale). They serve different purposes and live in different parts of Platform Settings.

You can find Content Categories under Platform Settings → Content Categories. The list has two tabs:

  • 📋 Active — all currently active categories
  • 📦 Archived — categories that have been archived and are no longer in active use

The list shows these columns:

  • 📛 Name — the category display name
  • 📅 Created at — when the category was created (sortable)
  • 🔄 Updated at — when the category was last modified (sortable)

➕ Creating a Content Category

To add a new content category:

  1. Go to Platform Settings → Content Categories.
  2. Click the + Create button in the top-right corner.
  3. In the Create content category dialog, enter a Name for the category.
  4. Click Save to create it.

💡 Tip: The Name field supports translations. Click the language flag icon in the dialog header to switch languages and add the category name in other languages for multi-language platforms.

✏️ Editing a Content Category

To update an existing content category:

  1. Find the category in the Active list and click its menu on the right.
  2. Select Edit.
  3. Update the Name as needed. Use the language flag in the dialog header to edit translations.
  4. Click Update to save your changes.

💡 Tip: Select View from the ⋮ menu if you want to inspect a category's details — including its ID and timestamps — without making any changes.

🔍 Finding and Filtering Content Categories

Use the Search bar at the top of the list to find content categories by name. You can also sort the list by clicking the Created at or Updated at column headers to toggle ascending or descending order.

Switch between the Active and Archived tabs to see categories in each state.

📦 Archiving and Restoring Content Categories

Content categories are not deleted — they are archived. Archiving removes a category from active use without permanently deleting it, so you can restore it later if needed.

Archiving a category

  1. On the Active tab, find the category you want to archive and click its menu.
  2. Select Archive.
  3. Confirm the action in the prompt that appears.

Restoring a category

  1. Switch to the Archived tab.
  2. Find the category you want to restore and click its menu.
  3. Select Restore.

⚠️ Important: Archiving a content category removes it from any content and audience configurations it was part of. Review any content using this category before archiving to avoid unintended targeting gaps.
