📤 How to Export the SCORM Package
🌟 Why Integrate SCORM with Atobi?
📦 What is SCORM Export?
The SCORM Export feature lets you convert Atobi articles into a SCORM–compliant package, which can be uploaded to any LMS that supports SCORM 1.2.
This allows employees to access Atobi training content directly through their existing LMS environment, without needing to log in separately on Atobi.
👉 The SCORM package acts like a bridge between the LMS and Atobi - displaying content and reporting progress seamlessly.
🧭 Note: Exported SCORM packages must be opened in Google Chrome to work properly.
🛠️ Before Exporting the SCORM Package
Before generating your SCORM file, make sure the following setup steps are complete. These are required to ensure the export works and user data is tracked correctly:
- Enable Easy Access on your platform: SCORM articles must be published in a channel that uses Easy Access. This login method ensures users can access the article without standard Atobi login steps.
💡 Don’t see the Easy Access option when creating a channel? Reach out to your Customer Success Manager to have it activated on your platform.
- Create a dedicated Store location: You need to create a separate Store-type location in your platform’s Location Hierarchy. This location will be used to group all users accessing Atobi through the LMS.This is important for tracking and data management - especially if users are being created automatically.
Add that location to the article’s audience: The Store location must be included in the audience of the article you're exporting. Otherwise, users accessing the article through the LMS won’t be able to view it.
Add the LMS domain under Platform Settings: To keep your Atobi content secure, only approved domains can load the SCORM package.
This prevents the risk of your content being embedded into unknown or malicious websites (also called iframe hijacking).
To whitelist your LMS domain:
- Go to Platform Settings
- Click the three dots next to your domain and select Edit Settings
- Scroll to the bottom and add your LMS domain, starting with "https://"
Check your LMS login method: SCORM uses either email or username to identify users.
Make sure the login method in your LMS matches what Atobi is expecting. If not, contact the Atobi Support Team and we’ll help adjust your login settings.
(Optional) Enable Open Registration: If Open Registration is enabled on your platform, Atobi can automatically create new users when they launch the SCORM course. It uses the learner’s name and email from the LMS to create their account in Atobi - no setup needed.
💡 Open Registration can also be hidden and used only for LMS purposes, depending on your platform setup.
📤 How to Export the SCORM Package
⚠️ Important: When exporting SCORM, you must log in using your platform’s custom URL (e.g. yourcompany.atobi.io), not the generic app.atobi.io domain. Otherwise, the export may fail.
Follow these steps to export an article as a SCORM package:
- Go to Article Studio from your platform URL
- Open the article you want to export
- Make sure it’s published in an Easy Access channel
- Confirm the Store location is in the article’s audience
- Click the arrow next to Republish
- Choose Generate SCORM package
- Set your export options:
- Language: Choose the article’s language
- Location: Select the Store location for tracking user data
- Click Generate
- Once it’s ready, download the ZIP file and upload it into your LMS
📈 How Data is Tracked
When someone launches the SCORM course from your LMS, Atobi tries to match them to an existing user using the credentials passed from the LMS (email or username).
- If a match is found → the user is tracked as usual
- If no match is found → Atobi automatically creates a new user under the Store location you selected
Once the course is completed:
- Atobi reports completion status and score back to the LMS
- Progress, reach, and results also show up in Atobi’s Dashboards
