Summary: Why Use Article Languages in Atobi?

Main Language of an Article

Every article in Atobi has a Main Language, which acts as the default version and fallback if a translation isn't available.

πŸ“Œ Example:

  • If an article's Main Language is Spanish, but a member’s interface language is French (and no French translation exists), they will see the article in Spanish.

Adding Additional Languages

To make your article accessible in multiple languages, follow these steps:

πŸ› οΈ How to Add a New Language:

  1. Go to Language Settings in Article Studio.

  1. Click Add Language and select from the list.

  1. The article will now be available for translation in that language.

πŸ‘€ Note: Only the Main Language allows you to add, move, or delete content blocks. Additional languages are strictly for translating existing content.

Changing the Main Language

If you need to change the Main Language of an article:

  1. Go to Language Settings in Article Studio.
  2. Click the three-dot menu next to the desired language.
  3. Select Set as Main Language.

πŸ“Œ Once changed, the new Main Language will act as the default version for all members.

Viewing Translated Articles

When a translation exists, members will automatically see the article in their preferred language.

πŸ’‘ To ensure this works smoothly:

βœ”οΈ Members should set their Interface Language to their preferred language.

βœ”οΈ If a translation exists for that language, it will be displayed automatically.

πŸ‘€ Note: Before assigning a language to a member, ensure it has been created in the system.

Collaborating on Translations

Need help translating an article? Invite a collaborator! πŸ‘₯

πŸ”Ή How to Add a Collaborator for Translations:

  1. Go to Language Settings in Article Studio.
  2. Click the Collaborator Icon next to the language.
  3. Select a team member to help with the translation.

Managing Collaborators:

  • To remove a collaborator, click their profile icon and select Remove.

πŸ‘€ Important:

  • Only the Main Language allows adding or deleting content blocks.
  • Collaborators on the Main Language can edit the structure of the article.
  • Collaborators on other languages can only translate content (they cannot change the structure).

πŸ’‘ Tip: Collaborators must have an Atobi account with Article Studio access to edit translations.
